Music Monday

I haven’t actually liked a music video in a long time, but I think this one for Solange’s “Lovers in the Parking Lot” is absolutely amazing. It’s a bit quirky, her dance moves are awkwardly perfect, plus she wears the hell out of those hot pants. The song itself is really pretty and so ridiculously catchy that I bet you’ll be replaying it for the rest of the day.

{ Kate Spade Licorice Too Pump, $298 }

Lately, I’ve been obsessing over this neon gem from Kate Spade. I think it’s the perfect hue to send summer off in style. Plus, I think it will be an unexpectedly lovely pop of color in the cold and dreary months to come. But I shouldn’t get too ahead of myself (especially speeding up to the cold), as this shoe comes in at virtually $300. I’m holding out hope on a less pricey alternative. Any suggestions?

Shorts suits were all the rage this spring, but I’m still feeling them for summer. I love their versatility; you can easily bounce from a business meeting to happy hour in one of these. This suit from ASOS is especially lovely with its nice shell pink color and tailoring, making it an appropriate choice no matter the occasion, even during a heat wave.

Music Monday

Mondays are usually pretty depressing for most, myself included. And here in Philly, it’s been dreary all day, not helping Monday with its rep at all. The easiest way to get me out of a funk is to listen to a playlist tailor-made for my mood. Today that’s going to consist of melancholy tunes, but mainly Tom Waits. There’s just something about his music that’s perfect or a rainy day.
