I haven’t actually liked a music video in a long time, but I think this one for Solange’s “Lovers in the Parking Lot” is absolutely amazing. It’s a bit quirky, her dance moves are awkwardly perfect, plus she wears the hell out of those hot pants. The song itself is really pretty and so ridiculously catchy that I bet you’ll be replaying it for the rest of the day.
Mondays are usually pretty depressing for most, myself included. And here in Philly, it’s been dreary all day, not helping Monday with its rep at all. The easiest way to get me out of a funk is to listen to a playlist tailor-made for my mood. Today that’s going to consist of melancholy tunes, but mainly Tom Waits. There’s just something about his music that’s perfect or a rainy day.

I love Christmas music (anytime of year, really) and this song from The Raveonettes is no exception. I’ve been listening to it pretty much on repeat for weeks now. There’s just something so simple and cheerful about it that really puts me in the holiday spirit. Check out the video above which is equally as dreamy and features a cameo from the one and only Jack Skellington.
You may have already heard a snippet of The Heavy’s “What Makes A Good Man” on your television being used to promote fall’s upcoming shows, but it’s definitely worth listening to as a whole. The thumping beat and collective chorus always pump me up, and there’s a certain cinematic quality to the song that makes me think I’m bound for bigger and better things, all in a little over three-and-a-half minutes.
This week’s Music Monday comes from one of my favorite bands, Mumford & Sons. The song, “I Will Wait”, is from their latest album set to come out later this month and I couldn’t be more excited to hear new material from them. The video is taken from concert footage of them and it really took me back to the time I saw them live. They’re such unbelievably good performers; I highly recommend seeing them in person if you haven’t yet because this here is only just a taste.
This week’s edition of “Music Monday” is a real treat for your ears. It comes courtesy of self-titled debut from The Lumineers. This is probably my favorite off their album, but I genuinely like all the rest of the songs as well. In fact, it’s one of the few albums I enjoy listening to from start to finish. Happy listening, people!
